The Miser

There is an old story associated with the village, and that is of a miser who had a strange visit one night. He answered his door to a stranger telling him that there was some money hidden in a nearby field. The miser thought it strange, but nonetheless followed the stranger to the spot supposedly harbouring the money.

At that point, the moonlight revealed that the stranger was not a man, but “some other being” with the smell of sulphur about him. The miser ran back home as fast as his legs could carry him, and after that point he began to change his ways.
