The Ettington Park Hotel was once a country house, but this gothic building looks every inch like it should feature in a horror film (which in fact it did, in the 1963 horror film The Haunting).
It is reputedly haunted by a grey lady that frequents the great stone staircase, a white lady drifts along the terrace, and two children are sighted on the banks of the River Stour in the grounds, and one has been heard crying.
A particular book in the library - St. Ronan's Well by Sir Walter Scott - was thrown across the room on numerous occasions and always landed open on a page containing a curse. Other objects have also been disturbed.
