Chillingham Castle

Chillingham Castle

Chillingham Castle was the seat of the Grey and Bennet families from the 15th century until the 1980s when it became the home of Sir Humphry Wakefield Bt., who is married to a member of the original Grey family.

The castle is reputedly haunted by a number of ghosts. These include the "Radiant Boy" - a child seen in the Pink Room, who's cries have also been reported, as well as a blue flash that emenates from the wall; the sounds of a rustling dress and a cold chill have been attributed to Lady Berkeley; a frail figure in white appears in'The inner Pantry'; something unseen in the Chamber; and the voices of two men are often heard talking in the Chapel.

Leonora, Lady Tankerville lived at Chillingham Castle in the 1920's and wrote about the strange occurences in a 1925 pamphlet.
