St. Nectan's Well

Saint Nectan, sometimes styled Saint Nectan of Hartland, was a 5th-century Celtic holy man who lived in Stoke. He landed at Padstow and spent some time at St. Nectan's Kieve.

According to folklore, he was traveling the road to Emcott when he was attacked by robbers and beheaded. However, it is claimed he picked up his head and walked to St. Nectan's Well.
